Thank you!! YOU REALLYYYYY WERE TOO NICE ABOUT PIRANESI.
I didn't read the Murderbot world as a dystopia, just good old soft sci-fi, but it's possible I was deep enough in my annoyance (that started page 1) that I wasn't noticing the signs of anything more sinister in the worldbuilding. I've never finished anything by Chambers but what I've heard mostly seems to be that her books are allergic to any meaningful conflict & full of fake niceness, whereas ASR was just 'I, a robot, have hacked the systems and don't take commands from humans, and I do not understand humans, and I want to avoid them (but I am protecting them), and they obviously really want to avoid me (while being WAY TOO NICE to me). Isn't it so obvious that our relationship is awkward. I am an awkward robot who just wants to watch hours of entertainment media and be left alone.' Like come onnnnnnnnn at least make the humans *actually* bad in how they treat it!
